Using Photography for Conservation: Advice from the Experts

In a world of change, more and more nature photographers are interested in using photography to advocate for the protection of the earth’s special places and fragile wild-things they photograph. The growing field of conservation photography was created to support photographers in using their nature and wildlife images for conservation.

Jaymi Heimbush of Mother Nature Network interviewed two women I have long admired who are at the forefront of this movement: Cristina Mittermeir, the founder of the International League of Conservation Photographers, and Morgan Heim, an Associate Fellow at iLCP and founder of Cat in Water. These interviews provide insight into their experience as conservation photographers, the sacrifices they have made for their passion and the leaps of faith they took to get started. Also be sure to watch their TEDx talks and be prepared to be inspired.
